Oh boy in less than one hour I am driving Dd3[9 with ASD] to her Brownie weekend away[gulp].

She is desperate to go, has been well prepared and has even packed stuff for a midnight feast but even so I am really worried for her.

She is totally incapable of telling anyone if she is upset and is well known for throwing up if she is anxious.

The team of leaders are brilliant and are very fond of her so I know they will all be really kind to her I am just panicking that she will be lying in bed scared and Sad and not able to tell anyone.

You don't have to answer this folks I just needed to get it off my chestBlush.

Brew I'm sure the leaders will keep a really clse eye on her Smile

IndigoBell · 25/11/2011 16:38

She won't be the only one nervous about being away from home at that age :)

The leaders will be keeping an eye on all the kids, because for most kids it'll be their first away experience and they'll feel nervous :)

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 25/11/2011 16:38

Aww. It will be fine. You'll find it harder than she will. Have lots of Wine Grin

moosemama · 25/11/2011 16:44

You can hold my hand and have a (hug) and some Wine as well.

Remember me last year when ds1 went on his outward bound weekend? I was an asbolute wreck.

He on the other hand had an absolute ball and sobbed buckets when he had to come home.

She will be fine. Smile

Ineedalife · 25/11/2011 16:45

LOL thanks everyone, of course you are all right. You would think by the time I got to number 3 going away I would be used to it. But she is soo lovely and I want her to enjoy it so much.

ellen if I wasn't teetotal I think Wine would be the order of the dayGrin.
It will have to be chocolate insteadSmile.

In that case this Wine is a glass of Schloer! Sending virtual chocolate as well. Smile

Don't let her see your anxiety whatever you do and tell her you are really proud of her.

Good luck. Make a busy weekend for yourself.

Ineedalife · 25/11/2011 19:19

Well I am backGrin

She was an absolute star, very excited and wanting to be independent. some of the other mums were making beds and stuf but she said she wanted to do it. So I showed her where the bathroom was and said Hi to all the leaders and then left.

She will have a great time I am sure.

Thanks for the schloermoose and yes I do remember when your Ds went away and had such a good time.

Thanks again everyoneSmile

Ineedalife · 25/11/2011 21:16

Thanxtooearly, I don't really know what to do tbh!

Thought I might go for a nice long walk tomorrow if its not chucking it down and have a nice meal from M and S for tea.

God it doesn't take much to please me does it.Grin

Also going to do some online xmas shopping, haven't started yet and can't stand the shops at this time of year.Grin

Aw I bet she'll have a great time Smile

The leaders will be there making sure she doesn't get too anxious about anything and I'm sure there will be a lot of nervous girls too on their first nights away but they'll no doubt forget all their worries in no time and stay up late in fits of excited giggles with each other, it's the leaders I'd feel more worried about! Wink

It's great that you are encouraging her independence too, enjoy your quiet weekend.
