Dd 2.3 had melatonin for the first time last nite. She managed to take capsule whole with much persuasion! 3mg. After 45 mins she nodded off. She woke after an hour coughing but settled really quick which is very unusual as takes ages to settle! Same again half hour later.
She then woke at 9pm screaming place down like she had a nite terror so OH slept on her floor. She slept in het bed soundly til 1am when she stirred but settled quik and stirred again at 4am but settled before waking for the day at 5.30.

She has very bad anxiety so we thought if we take it in turns to sleep on her floor ( once she's already settled) then we can settled her quik before she gets in a state and hopefully break the cycle of her waking. Anyway I'm waffling. Seems like the melatonin worked a bit as she certainly woke less in the nite and was more calm wen she did wake (apart from nite terror) does it sound like dosage needs increasing slightly?

Obviously need to give it few more weeks til we go back for review with paed.
Thank you

I would stick with that dose for a while and gradually get her used to self-settling without you being in there. It's a reasonable size dose and should work.

Can they not put you on syrup? We use the liquid (kidnaps) for DS.

Glad it seems to have worked for you - long may it continue :)

Paed didn't mention syrup we got tablet or capsule option so we thought capsule be easier as we could at least open it if necessary. As it happens capsule is white and very small so went down fairly easily once her mouth had been coaxed open with a snartie ;)
