If you qualify by having low income and have a disabled child they give you credit on your account of over £100

EDF say no because DP works. We don't get JSA or IS.

wasuup3000 · 22/11/2011 11:12

EON says no because we are not on income support.

summerl0ve · 22/11/2011 11:13

I'm a single parent not on IS, but CTC and CA

Energy companies seem to have different criteria's.

sheepgomeep · 22/11/2011 11:28

does this include prepayment meters?

Chundle · 22/11/2011 12:14

Despite me getting dla and dd getting high rate dla and me on carers I doubt we will get I ( although not run yet) as tried for similar before and seems you need to be on income support or job seekers. Thanks though

keepingupwiththejoneses · 22/11/2011 12:52

I have already tried this and you do have to be on IS or JSA.

toadnotfrog · 22/11/2011 13:20

British gas said DLA + CA + income under 16,500

WhoWhoWhoWho · 22/11/2011 14:21

Thanks for this, I am with Southern Electric on prepayment meters so not sure if will be eligible or not but they had a quick form on their website that you could fill in to apply.

summerl0ve · 22/11/2011 14:36

Sounds like there's different rules among the differnet companies then. As I said I qualified but I'm not on IS or JSA, but am on CA and CTC, dd gets DLA they didnt even ask what rate. They're crediting my account in Jan. I'm on British gas. I dont know about pre payment meters, sorry.

I rang EON about this as i got a leaflet through from CAF saying this but they said they'd stopped doing it some months before and they chose the recipients at random. In fact the guy said that they 'decided' who deserved it and who didn't.
I am a lone parent on Income support etc with Two SLD boys but apparently I wasn't worthy enough!!!!
I asked who got the job of sitting on the pedestal of power and deciding in a medical fashion (assuming they were qualified of course) who qualified and who didn't but he couldn't answer that one!

ezzie21 · 22/11/2011 19:03

many thanks for this 'heads up'

british gas say yes!

molepom · 22/11/2011 19:06

Got my letter from SSE saying that I qualify so they are saying yes too.

Wether I get the payment is another thing altogether though.

brandy77 · 22/11/2011 19:22

scottish power said i qualify, on IS and son high rate DLA. Worrying though, when i asked "so you will require evidence to be sent to you of my benefits then", he said "no". I told him that it leaves it open to be abused by people who arent even on benefit etc, he said he had been told to only ask a few random people to send in evidence. Point being, if you dont qualify, go for it anyway, chances are they wont even know if you arent actually receiving the right benefits to qualify!!

summerl0ve · 22/11/2011 21:07

I had to give my permission for them to check my benefits as part of the eligibility criteria.
