I'm not happy, well I am, more relieved. Had CAMHs appointment today and person we spoke to was lovely, on the ball and asked me, his dad and ds loads of questions. She had his file from whenhe was 3! Anyway he meets criteria in 3 areas and its enough for further assessment. But he is in the system!

Well done for getting this far.

I remember the relief that something was actually happening.

How old is your ds?

Glad you had a good experience at CAMHS, we found them very helpful.

How long have you been trying to get him assessed?

Good luckSmile.

He's 12. He is already diagnosed with adhd but we have suspected for years he may be on the spectrum, since he was a baby. An initial assessment at 3 showed very little but the paed today suggested that more focus was put onto his adhd and that's why ds was missed. In fact camhs apologised for the almighty cock up on their part re ds appointments and referrals. But she was lovely and took ds and us seriously. Of course he may not pass the assessment but its a starting point.

Dd3 was recently diagnosed with ASD 3 years after her intial appointment.

CAMHS used a DISCO assessment which was extremly thorough. It asked loads of questions right back to when she was a baby. She was also seen by a MH nurse who did some work on imagination and emotions with her.

Prior to this she had been seen by Speech and Language, Community Paeds, and Occupation Therapy.

I am glad you felt they took you seriously and good luck with the assessmentsSmile.
