DLA possible Aspergers

Ds is believed to have Aspergers/HFA - very literal understanding, anxious and confused, poor social skills etc. but has had ADOS test and was told he has no ASD. He has a 22 hour statement for behvioural, social and emotional difficulties and I am now considering applying for DLA as he does need a lot more help in certain areas than other children his age would. He last saw a specialist (OT) about a year ago which was when sm was agreed and he is believed to have some sensory issues too. I am wary of sending in the paed's report as it says there are no signs of ASD difficulties but gave a dx of 'behavioural difficulties'. EP however does believe he has Aspergers but hasn't said that directly in her report Has anyone been in a similar situation and been awarded DLA?

It doesn't matter what dx he has for DLA. It is the care and mobility needs. Therefore having a statement with so many hours will already go in his favour as it is additional care above another child of his age. DS hasn't got a dx of asd yet, just dyspraxia and SPD and was awarded first time in March at 5 yo. He doesn't have a statement.

Hi my son took ADOS and we were told from test not ASD but he was given diagnosis of ASD after further assesment (being watched over a period of time) through CAMHS ,could you ask for a different assessment?

My son is high functioning and receives DLA ...as already been said it is about the childs needs ..although my son is HF he has severe sleep and social problems. You could apply as he needs more care than an average child ..good luck.
