Dd1 starts as soon as we get out of the car at school, she ran off, refused to come to me because I took a book off her (the teacher get funny when she takes things in) and hid behind the curtain in the hall. The head saw what was happening and grabbed me when I was leaving, he said that its part of her condition and not to worry, he said that she always struggles to settle back in after the holidays.
When I went to pick her up, she was refusing to put her jumper back on because it didn't have a pink name tag in it, I had to explain to her that one of her jumpers didn't have a pink tag in it but this one DID have her name, appartently she had had a huge paddy about it.
AArrgghhhh!!! I hope the assessment appointment comes soon.

No advice just wanted to let you know you are not alone.

Oh dear, not a good first day back at school, hopefully she'll settle back in pretty soon. Sounds like you've got a sympathetic headteacher though.

I think the first day back can be hard to adjust to. It's good that the Head sounds so understanding but it's probably not that much of a consolation. Any idea when the assessment is likely to be?

he is very good, he is the Senco too and very undertsnading about DS and Dd1's cerebral palsy. He also understands that DD1 has behaviour problems and its not her being naughty all the time.

Whoopee, a good and sympathetic SENCO/Head! Couldn't she have a special bag to take in her bits and pieces, books etc, that she knows she gets back at the end of the day? Its so hard just taking something away, especially at the hardest point when she is just arriving.

DD1 likes to show people her special things (she gets very attached to things) and would want them with her, and the teacher isn't very sympathetic to dd1. And apparently it distracts her (not that she doesn't self-distract anyway lol)
