Have you tried the Red Cross. They loan out equipment such as wheelchairs - don't know if they have children's though.

StarlightMcKenzie · 17/11/2011 19:34

Thank you. I'll try them in the morning and see.

Red cross do hire them but be careful.

We hired one for uncle and they said just a donation is acceptable. When it arrived he gave them £20 and the man said............actually we tend to accept at least £35. Funny donation. So ask how much is acceptable first as it left my Uncle embarrassed.

If crutches cant be found would they or someone have a kids walking frame that he could maybe at least swing his leg gently.

They have children's crutches for sale at Betterlife Healthcare for £26.24.

Not sure what height he'd need though.

Wheelfreedom do children's wheelchair hire from £28 per week.

Might be more companies who do similar on this list.

Thank you everyone. Moose I'll give them a call. I'd prefer crutches to a wheelchair if possible as our house is far too small.

Wheelchair hire is close to the cost of buying one though if you hire for 6 weeks Confused. Would rather buy one and donate it to the hospital when finished.

I've not been good at keeping up with recent threads, but is this something the OT dept (NHS) could help with?
