I'm asking this question for a friend. She has a ds who is 6 and is dx with asd and probable adhd. He isnt statemented though and is on school action plus, as she has been told that she probably wouldnt get one (I personally disagree) I have told her she should go for a statement herself, but she struggles to fight ifykwim.
Her son has special pencils for school, which she has sourced and bought. They cost £3.00 each, but he pulls the lead out of them, part of a habbit. However, they work but she has just provided 6 pencils for the school, who have just come back and said can she buy some more as the lead has run out (must be special pencils) I have said surely the school can provide them.
Alfie has had millions of pencil grips to try, and we never paid for one of them. However, he is statemented.
Should the school be providing equipment for her, I know it's only a little thing, but she isnt really getting much support from the teachers or school. Which I find strange as they have been brilliant with Alfie.
