Christmas gifts for staff at DS special school - HELP!

DS is one of 8 children in his class. DS doesn't have a dedicated 1:1
There is one full time teacher -(job share so two people) and 5 full time LSA posts covered by about 8 staff!
In short what do I do - bake a cake for all the staff or something like that.

It's his first term so it's all a bit new! What do others do?

I am in the same situation this year. Ds has lots of different teachers/TA's in his SS and they are all fabulous. Not sure what to do about pressies at xmas.

Big tin of sweets for the staffroom.
Gift giving isn't compulsory and an individual card thanking them for whatever they have done for your DS will probably be appreciated just as much.

Ah brilliant someone has posted this question...I was going to! I have been thinking of going to Poundland and getting individual gifts or a case of wine they can all divide up.

In the summer I baked scones and sent them in with jam and cream, last christmas I sent in a tin of biscuits with nice tea and coffee. I haven't made up my mind yet, DD will do some hand prints so I can make cards, that's as far as I've got.

I buy a nice fancy giftbox and fill it with loads of different chocs (usually the supermarkets do 3 for 2 in boxes of chocolates so buy them, heroes, ferrero etc) put some nice tissue paper in and fill for all the staff to share, especially in special school where there are so many staff the teachers LSA's and lunch staff all get a couple and saves the stress of missing someone out.

I gave ds class a big box of chocs last year. I think a cake would be a lovely idea. That way it doesn't cost the earth and they can share them out between them.

I was in the same boat with DS's special school, when he first started (year 9 now!!) because there were all the other people too - school nursing team, the physios, his driver and escort......
I make chocolate truffles - I have an easy recipe and just make plain ones (no nuts or booze). You only need to do a few per person with a nice tag which DS helps me decorate and they go down well. The physio and nurses work in teams so I just put some in a plastic boxes for them to share as I am never sure how many of them there are on any given day. Incidentally DS's reception teacher frequently tells me that she is still using her gift tag as a bookmark!!
