DS is 4 with ASD and LD he loves playing with torches but always takes them apart! Does anyone have a recommendation for one that might last a bit longer?

The one we have for DS2 & DS3 is one we bought at the Disney Store. It's this one: www.amazon.co.uk/Handy-Manny-Mannys-Flicker-Torch/dp/B0045Z99IK/ref=pd_cp_k_h_b_cs_2

We bought it at Disney Store for £5, but it's a bit difficult to find at the moment. I would check if you have a local Disney Store, in case they still have any in store. I have actually written to the Disney Store and highlighted what a good product this is and how many people I've actually recommended it to, specifically because the batteries are behind a panel secured with a screw, so the child cannot access it. It is ideal! There are a couple on ebay, some with decent prices, some with silly prices.

I'll point out that our DS2 has had his for 2 years and he has not managed to destroy it or access the batteries. And that's saying something, as DS2 can be quite... um.... lively? Grin He literally takes it to bed each and every night and it's on all night like a nightlight.

I've been looking at that one!!! Sounds ideal - Thanks!!!

I want one that it doesn't matter if he leaves it on all night/week/month. We kept running out of batteries and I am not one for rechargable batteries....I tried one two of the ones that you charge up by gripping it repeatedly but no good, they just stop somehow!¬=

Sorted - just bought "Flicker" and he should be on his way here soon for Santa to wrap!

cwtch - hope you got it for a good price! DS2 absolutely loves his - uses it to read in bed at night, and basically lays it on his pillow at night and leaves it on all night so i serves as a nightlight for him. It's pretty decent on batteries as well. DS3 kept trying to swipe DS2's Flicker, so we ended up buying him on as well, which he's had for about a year now. They're so attached to them that we bought a spare one that is tucked away.... just in case! Hope your DS enjoys it!

not as good as a £5.00 but worth it to see him happy!

oh good! I hope he's really happy with it. DS2 & DS3 both absolutely love theirs

I've got a torch here if anyone would like it? I'm happy to post it to anyone that might find it useful?

FIL got it from work (he works at Corus) and it's a torch on a Tripod base that opens out; the top of the torch is on a hinge so that you can bend the angle of the light forwards - there's a sliding switch so that you can adjust the strength of the beam. It's a bit like a Transformer! (it's made by Stanley).

DS outgrew his torch phase some time ago so if anyone would like me to send it on, I'm more than happy to send it on.

Ben10WasTheSpawnNowWeLoveLego · 09/11/2011 20:45

DS would love the Transformer torch. I can paypal the postage if you'd rehome it with us :)

FlyingFig · 09/11/2011 20:47

I don't want any money for postage - just happy to see it go to a new home as opposed to lying in the bottom of his toy basket, among all the other toys DS doesn't play with Grin

Just PM your address and I'll pop it in the post this week!

Ben10WasTheSpawnNowWeLoveLego · 09/11/2011 20:54

Thank you Grin. Have PMed you. I know the feeling. We are on a freecycle/amazon/ebay mission here to clear some room.

I've not read all replies but DS was given a lego man torch 3 christmas's ago which is still going strong and doesn't eat batteries too badly (he often falls asleep with it on).
