Who performs an ados?

Hi I have a feeling that ds will be referred by the paed to have an ados test. Just wondering if it's clinical pysch or community/developmental paed that does this? He's 2.5.
Asking mainly because I'm not keen on the pysch and would rather paed do it as its more consistency for ds then. Can I ask for paed to do it or do I have to take wot I'm given with regards to who performs it?
Thabks

ADOS is done by those with specific training. In DS case it was ed pysch and specialist consultant paed plus a second paed observing.

When DS had his ADOS it was performed at the hospital by the consultant psychologist and consultant psychiatrist both specialising in ASD.
I don't think (but am willing to be corrected, because job roles seem to vary around the country!) that a community paed is qualified to.

DS was seen by a community paed but her speciality is neuro disability. In my NHS Trust there are only a few people qualified to carry out the ADOS and they only do 2-3 a month! DS had to wait almost a year for his.

We had ours in September, it was carried out by Developmental Paediatrician (who was just operating the video camera, didn't participate) and a SALT, who did all the play stuff with toys etc.

I think perhaps there may be someone else who looks at the video (along with the 2 I've mentioned above) but not sure.

I was present at this, although it's not the norm (no babysitter for DS2, who was present, and it would have upset DS1 if we'd gone out of the room) and it did make interesting, if not rather raw / blunt / gruelling viewing. I was exhausted the next day.

We got the results about 6 or 7 weeks later at a feedback meeting, with DX of Autism. The sheet made the choice of either on the spectrum or ASD, but not Aspergers, and also no distinction was made between ASD or HFA on the ADOS score sheet.

The feedback meeting had several involved professionals invited, Paed, 2 x SALTS, Preschool Home Visitor, Parent to Parent person, Head Teacher, Class Teacher and Keyworker. No one from school came in the end Hmm, which made for a more intimate and perhaps more productive meeting.

I knew the results of ADOS as I had been there, and have read so much on MN and ASD forums that I had no illusions.
