Any ideas for activities for after school SN club?

Hi, I volunteer at an after school SN club. We have a time table of activities but are aware that it is getting a little repetitive.

What kind of activities would you like at a group? Or if you volunteer at a group what have you found successful?

We currently do crafts, cookery, games, swimming and bowling and have had animals in to visit.

Thanks

At my DD's SN school they have a trampolining/rebound club so it covers all abilities.
What age group/ ability level do you cater for. Are you able to take the children out - I see you have done swimming and bowling - are those facilities at the school or do you go out?

There are no SN clubs down this way that I have found but what about cycling lessons/races or roller skates/scooters,to help with balance or weaving around bollards, boxes, going in circles. Doesnt have to be adventurous or advanced stuff just purely for fun and maybe collect some best effort stickers along the way Wink

Space hopper racing or rolling? Assault courses with scooter/tampoline/crawl tunnel/bean bag throwing. Keeps the active ones active :)

We have two groups one primary age and one secondary. The children are mixed ability.

We run from a church hall and couldn't afford a trampoline. We can take the children out and with the older ones we really want to work on their social and independence skills.

thanks bigbluebus

Thanks coff, I think we could afford space hoppers etc. That sounds like a good idea. We could make a mini assault course, I think that would go down wellSmile

what about all the parents organising a fete or something together, a local pub do a raffle with proceeds going towards equipment for sn club. Maybe the sn children can be sponsored by their families in something fun like a little swimathon or something.

This might help you get some equipment :)
