Just wanted to share a special moment with you all. Ds who is 3.5 years old has only been communicating for a while now by either pointing or saying single words and saying them very badly. Tonight he came up to us and said "pear please"....at first we thought we were imagining it and then he asked for it again very clearly. DH is on his way to the supermarket to buy some!!! So proud!

isn't is great when they come out with these things? you must be really proud of your DS :-)

Thanks! I guess it's a triple celebration - not only is he starting to talk but it seems he has manners too by saying "please" and is also eating fruit which is pretty amazing for such a fussy eater!!!

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 02/11/2011 22:44

Lovely, sleepy.

It's funny, I've just put on a different thread about giving in to requests just because they were communicating. Smile

sleepyhorse · 02/11/2011 22:56

Where do you get the funny faces on here?

Look just under the 'Add your message here' for a list of them. Eg [ smile ] without the spaces = Smile

sleepyhorse · 02/11/2011 23:28

Thanks Ellen....

Chocjunkie - why are u envious? By the way I read your other thread re not getting the DLA? I have got my forms but not yet filled them out. Should I even bother sending it if you didn't get yours?

Envy because your DS is talking AND polite AND is not demanding chocolate!

In any case apply for DLA, maybe worth getting help with the form (CAB etc). And use the cerebra guide. they seem to turn a lot of people down atm esp when they try first time or without dx. A lot of people on this board got turned down first but were awareded after reconsideration.
I am just preparing something for my reconsideration request and if that fails again, though I don't think hope so (DD's needs are complex and this is highlighted in every report I send in to back my epic claim up), I will take it to tribunal. So, i would not say I did not get it - just not yet Grin
