I run a small parents group called Coffee Break at my Daughter Special needs school

At the beginning of December I am starting another one in a church hall (Coffee Break Xtra) so I can expand it

I have raised some money by having a coffee and cakes sale at home :) and now need to do advertising

I am going to....

Do leaflets for every Parent/carer in each local (ish) primary Special Needs schools, e mail people I am in contact with by e mail from local Disability organisations asking them to forward my leaflet to everyone they are in contact with

Facebook

Child Development Centre and the childrens eye clinic I attend with my daughter

can anyone think of anywhere else? I am terrified that no body will turn up, its something I have always wanted to do.

Maybe Health Centre's?

thank you

Gp surgery? Local supermarket/corner shop notice board? Religious centres usually have a newsletter, worth asking I'd have thought.

It sounds like you have a good contacts list there. And purple's suggetions are all good as well.
Is your leaflet very clear about who/what/why/where/when? Are kids invited and if so, what is there for them to do?

It may take a few weeks to get going, good luck with it. And hope it doesn't snow!

local portage service might pass on leaflets

IndigoBell · 30/10/2011 17:19

Parent partnership might be able to email an invite to all of the parents they know about.

Also, look for glittery's thread about her equipment group, she's lovely and might be willing to help.

Pm for fb details, I make adaptive clothes and will happily do a shoutout to my 600 or so likers :)

thanks

Am not aiming for the place to be filled with Kids, so am not having things for them, but obviously some people may have them and they are more than welcome :)

thanks for that everyone, some good idea's

think I covered everything on the leaflet!

I started it originally as when My Daughter started her SN school you can feel isolated from the other parents. SN toy Library and other things stopped, so I wanted to do something for the parents that may feel some of their support stopped when their kids started school

Do you have a local newsagents that stocks a local newspaper?

Maybe if you printed off some A5 size sheets they would be good enough to slip them inside the local rag?

anniebear · 30/10/2011 20:58

oh thanks,

Just remembered was going to try the local radio stations to see if they will mention it :) worth a try

Try Vistaprint for printing, they do loads of deals (if you can't blag someone locally to do you a favour!

coff33pot · 30/10/2011 21:59

Local radio stations are usually good on things like that. What about schools? They have a news letter (I get loads!) maybe they could put a small write up for you.

anniebear · 30/10/2011 22:13

thanks, have ordered cards from Vista print and am going to do letters for the SN schools to give out :)
