DD has just spent yet ANOTHER night in hospital, water infection and tonsilitis and fitting again, was seen by her paediatrician and asked him about benign infantile hypotonia was it a symptom of something else eg CP.

He said no because with CP you get stiff muscles and that is her diagnosis - infantile benign hypotonia.

Feel confused as i thought there were different types of CP not just stiff muscles, can anyone correct me if im wrong or advise me as i feel really really bewildered with it all

Jenk - my dd has CP. She is mainly hypotonic, although does have a degree of spasticity too (although this hypertone developed later).

Is your dd getting physio? Our physio was excellent in terms of explaining about CP and the different types.

Hope your dd is on the mend, and take care of you.

yes we are getting physio- i will ask the lady to explain to me as consultant doesnt seem to want to, my dd does have some stiffening in her muscles though so thats what made me think it might be CP
