Something good in the week from hell - yay!!

Our week has been going shockingly badly with DS's transition into year one falling apart daily and him and me in tears most of the time.

However good news had landed............

We have had our DLA application approved.

I'm so happy. It took me over a year to fill the form in as it made me so down whenever I looked at it, I've been in tears so many times trying to write how awful DS is but I did it, and they read it, and we got it. I know it is only money but it will make such a difference to us and him.

You're not alone in transition to yr 1 falling apart. We're the same, tears daily. I'm waiting for the DLA decision which should arrive any day now. Sent it off at the end of June.

Thank rebl, only sent ours off at the end of Aug so wasn't expecting any response for ages yet. Hope yours comes soon and good news.

No idea how long the year one transition will take. We expected problems but it is just so hard to take it every day. Came home sobbing myself from school drop off this morning. It's like a full scale battle before 9.00am.

Glad you got the DLA decision. It is a mixed emotion thing. Like you say the emotion of just filling the form in can be overwhelming.

I don't know your history but I hope things improve with regards to DS and Year 1.

You can send off for a RADAR key now. We use it to access a nice big clean toilet to use as a quiet room and safe space for meltdowns. Which as you say are generally so much worse this time of year.
