DLA forms are so depressing.

i am ok filling them in for the kids allergies etc, and it doesnt bother me, as most of it doesnt/didnt apply to the kids IYKWIM, but now with dd2 suspected AS and her hypotonia i am finding it so hard. my other sister (works with SN kids for the county, runs SN group at the weekend as well) has been helping me fill it in, its so depressing. her dd is 4months younger than my dd2, so we are using her a guide to compare dd2 to. (i dont know many 3yr olds).

i agree they are a nightmare, i spend all my time dealing with the kids and to me their autism is part and parcel of our lives and i cope with it by trying to be positive about it all, DLA forms mean you have to do the opposite, it makes me feel disloyal to the kids, i have to do DD1 dla form soon, still it shouldn't be too difficult to compare her with a typical 12 year old, don't all 12 year old girls want a dora doll for christmas!

I know how you're feeling misdee, my ds's DLA runs out in April and already I'm getting the new forms in the post advising me to do it all over again. I'm just going to do it after Xmas, I haven't got the energy to get stuck into them at the moment.

i am always happy to help out with dla reports, i have two really good ones for ASD, one got my DS 12 years, the other got DD2 8 years, i can email the reports for anyone to adapt, a welfare rights worker did them for us and they have been well used by dozens of people with excellent results.

misdee · 10/12/2005 22:03

you already have email them to me, and they have been great for wording etc. thnak you very much.

yes i know you have them misdee, but if anyone else would like them give me a shout

BoozyChristmacwoozy · 11/12/2005 15:58

onlyjoking I would really love to see those reports, I got turned down at first when doing DLA forms, and was only awarded when I wrote a very lengthy report, I'd love to get it right first time round for a change.

DingleBells · 11/12/2005 19:30

I had to face them this year! Put them off for ages and really regretted it. It was like a big black cloud constantly over me.

When I did start them I tried to tacjkle at least one page, thoroughly, each night. First just writing on an A4 notebook, and addng anything I thought of afterwards.

Amelia is just 4 and was 3 when I re-applied. She has a whole host of issues with DS, her learning disability, speech, mobility. If you need any more help please don't hesitate in shouting and I can dig out her forms.

midgeymoo · 11/12/2005 20:14

only joking. Could I have a copy of those reports please. My ds (AS & Dyspraxia) DLA runs out soon - ran for two years and I'm dreading forms. really appreciate it! midgeymoo

OH c##p, sent mine off last week, I should have photocopied them should'nt I????

Hope they dont get lost in the post.

BoozyChristmacwoozy · 12/12/2005 15:24

onlyjoking, you are a diamond, I haven't had the chance to read it properly throughout yet, but what I've read sounds very similar to the difficulties my ds has with his ASD. I wouldn't have been able to articulate it so well though, thank you so much

onlyjoking9329 · 12/12/2005 15:53

you are most welcome boozy, our welfare rights worker did the reports he asked us loada questions each question he asked made me think that i probably wouldn't have mentioned a,b & c
cos we just live with it we adapt and forget that we even had to adapt, IYKWIM

Lillypond · 12/12/2005 21:58

Onlyjoking - I don't think we've chatted before, but could I also have a copy of those DLA reports please.

I've sent mine off already but am not at all confident that I did a good job and would like to see what I might have missed. They might also help if I need to go to appeal.

Can I CAT you? Hope you don't mind.

Thanks LP xx
