A blue NHS thingy to prove disability

This is apparently what my dh was told he needed for ds today at a national event to get him into the disabled area. The DLA letter wouldn't do, not to mention the obvious disability aids!

Anyone any idea what this is? DH can't be more specific (men!) but clearly it would have been useful to have one today but we can't get one if we don't know what it is! Can you imagine going along to the dr asking for a blue NHS thingy?!

Weird. Blue badge? I've used that before. I have a yellow paper card thing from my council.

Odds on to be a Blue Badge.

Although it's daft isn't it, because if you have it inside how the hell do you park?

I had the argument with Legoland.
We don't have a BB for Ds. He doesn't need one but Legoland were insisting that only a BB would do as proof to qualify for the exit passes to the rides.

Some poor sod got the brunt of my rage when I pointed out that not all disabilities were physical and they were discriminating against DS for being totally mobile.

Now I just need to take reems of official documents to prove that he can't wait in queues.

We've had the same with a local zoo - blue badge needed for carer's pass. Luckily we have one, but it does discriminate imo.

DS doesn't have a blue badge but even if he did he wouldn't have had it with him because it would have been in the car in the car park! So how does that work?

DH did have the DLA award letter with him. Plus DS does have a visible disability (although thats not the one that causes the problems in crowds and hence why the disability area would have been better).

Oh I completely agree. Tis bonkers. The time I needed it I didn't need it to park iyswim.

Great to hear the surfing is going so well, saintly. how fantastic. your ds looked absolutely at home - I can't imagine dd1 being so coordinated and relaxed when balancing like that!

PC - we use a copy of dd1's Statement at Legoland (and all other Merlin parks too) - states autism dx, and that she is at a SN school. has worked for us every time (so far) and we go quite a lot.
