What on earth is a "dymanic" assessment

DD has a dx of AS from CAMHS, and we have a tribunal date in the near future.

She did not cooperate with assessments with the paediatrician or the EP but her SEN statement was nonetheless issued (and pointless hence tribunal). Now the LA have said she needs a dymanic assessment in a residential assessment in a hospital mental health unit .

Googling "dymanic" doesn't give any satisfactory explanations, and I wondered if anyone can enlighten me? (pleeaaaase)

Have you spelt it wrong when googling? I think it's a dynamic assessment. I don't have personal experience but I think it involves trying to test whether a child has the potential to learn rather than testing their current skills. Hopefully someone will come along who knows.

Do you know, I think EJ and KUWTJ may be right . I thought "dymanic" must be a special technical term!

I didn't think an SEN Officer would spell "dynamic" wrong - no wonder I couldn't google "dymanic"

why do they want to do the assessment if they have already issued the statement?

My mum always used to say ecomony, so I'm trained in spoonerisms.

iamnotapanda Good question, I don't know why we need another assessment either, apart from using it as a delaying tactic, and to somehow show we are not cooperating by refusing this.
