im taking him in for 1.15pm.

Hope he will be ok, he seems ok atm, they are letting him choose 4 friends that he likes and they are going to play games for the first half hour to ease him back in, he,s very excited about that!!

How did your ds cope today Jenk?

jenk1 · 05/12/2005 18:56

It went really well he was all smiles when he came out.

when he went in he picked 3 friends and they played board games for a while.

the learning mentor told me that he will start his extra tuition after xmas and that he will be having SULP-which i understood to be help with socialising, he has gone on the special needs register and has been put on school action.

She said they will ask for an educational psychologist to assess him next spring but that it might not come to that.

I thought oh yes it will!, Ds school closes next july and he transfers to a new one and i want to make sure that he gets the same help at the new one and the only way to guarantee that is with a statement so we as parents are going to request one after xmas.

But he was very happy and relaxed when he came out and he is going to just go in the afternoon for the time being as there is no playtime and thats where the main problem is, i feel very very relieved and a bit tearful

That's fabulous news Jenk, it's good to hear that he didn't find today stressful. I agree with your concerns about whether he'll recieve the same support when he moves up to his next class, or in fact when he moves to his next school, a statement would certainly help with that transition. Good news that it went well today though
