DS2 (moderate to severe ASD, dyspraxia, GDD) has a place in a Specialist Autistic school! We also have a statement with this as the named school, transport & escort to and from school, SALT provision, continence services...

Now I just need to get DLA sorted(battle-weary emoticon)

wonderful news im sure the ss will make a BIG difference it did to my DS and all the extra salt and therapies, hes begun to change its very odd as in past change was always so very slowwww now it seems to be speeding up his behaviour albeit not perfect IS changing and hes begining to act a little older... the DLA will be fine dont worry im sure the SS will support your claim and it will be fine then you can relax and take a deep breath..... well done

dla will be a walk in the park ,compared to get ds into special school. my dd has sn , but no diagnosis and no statement but gets dla , so a child in ss with diagnosis will easily qualify , the hard part is having to set out all the negative stuff about dc ,one its over you will have extra funds to help with all the extras sn kids need xx

dd has a physical prob as well xx

I know how pleased you must feel - ds also ASD is starting at my choice of special school in september. No transport for us though as we live too close! Good luck with the DLA my tip would be send lots of up to date reports with the form - DS was awarded HRC in two weeks.

Much as I'd like to claim credit, the school, Paed and Ed Psych did most of the work. I just had to do a bit of arm-twisting at the beginning of the year to kickstart the process.
