well, there you go.

LA has agreed to our choice of school for dd1, from september. No arguments, no delays.

So, out of one ABA school, with 3 weeks notice, and into another, seamlessly.

I am actually lost for words. and might cry.

LOL at getting into an ABA school with no ABA on statement. I bet their stats say one less child receiving ABA due to their vastly improved non-ABA teaching.

It's all about their returns.....that I can only assume must have a link to their promotion scales.

Maybe that is why they agreed though. You were in an ABA school without ABA on statement and the LA didn't want to open can of worms so they just agreed to the move provided you didn't mention ABA anywhere on force it!?

Blimey, Silverfrog, so you must have been bricking it! Fantastic that it's come right.

Grin that's really great.

ovenchips · 03/08/2011 11:51

That is fantastic news!

silverfrog · 03/08/2011 13:13

thanks Smile

Ellen: bricking it does not even come close Grin

Star: god only knows how we have managed to get to this bizarre arrangement not once but twice. data collection, perseverance, luck nd a following wind I think Wink. seriously though, it is madness, but I think you must be right - a huge case of "don't mention the war!" going on - everyone turning a blind eye, not talking about the elephant in the room, and somehow it has worked out in our favour...

I did the same as Silv. Totally generic statement ("this child needs a low stimulus environment, visual timetables, TEACCh etc - bog standard "boiler plate" TEACCH statement-speak) with just a nod to ABA ("at present an ABA style of teaching is beneficial") at the end and in the Part 4 school stuff. I found they liked it that way, as it minimised the extra writing they needed to do. In my previous career and now, I have found that if you make the writing someone has to do absolutely minimal, you get further as people hate and fear originating new copy.

tryingtokeepintune · 04/08/2011 03:25

Ben10isthespawnofthedevil · 04/08/2011 07:49

Well done Silverfrog :)

silverfrog · 04/08/2011 18:07

ok, I am officially freaked out now.

I suggest a quick move to Surrey form the lot of you. The LA have just paid dd1's fees, ahead of term starting, and ahead of actually being invoiced Shock

astonished is not the word... I have no idea what has happened over at LA central, but they are most definitely acting weird (in a good way)

Sure, how big is your house? Will we all fit in?

I am a cynical old bag now, but my explanation will be that someone somewhere is charged with reducing costs next academic year so is pushing as many into this year as possible!

(remember I have worked for a no. of LAs)

silverfrog · 04/08/2011 18:23

umm, well we could squeeze a few of you in Grin

I think you're right - they have paid next term and spring term, s going nicely up to the end of financial year...

oh well, come what may. dd1 can start there, and it will be a massive fight for them to get her back out again, I can tell you!

Oh yes, - altogether now........

'their finances are not your concern!'

I think the moon has moved or something. Things are beginning to go well for me too Grin
