Hi AutismMummy. I have two kids. The oldest is five and has gdd and poss asd. I also have a two year old who is your typical toddler horror.

Thanks Merlincat,I Know What u mean hun.....although most of my friends are very understanding....but there are some that dont get the extent of what we as parents do for our special needs kids....most people think that looking after (i hate this word) "normal" children is just as hard as looking after special needs kids...Am Disputing that looking after children in general isnt hard i know it is......but they avnt got to deal with the extra things like we do.....an no1 seems to grasp the fact that our kids do grow older but their brain age doesnt it might improve but not fully....also because of the fact i cannot work as does my husband either cos we care fulltime for our 3 children.....we get looked at as spongers an we get things handed to us on a plate.....i feel this is disgusting,i would love to get back to work so would my husband but we cant cos of our kids.no-body can be more understanding than those goin thru the same as what your goin thru x

Well there is no line drawn between those that work and those that dont here Personally I feel we have a full time job taking care of our little beauties as it is.

I do work but DH and I work together. There was no way we could work for someone else. Tried that but with all the pressures of DS etc, time off, emergency calls and the scowls we got we jacked that in and it was good to work things around ourselves without the employers adding to the pressure

Which ever route you choose...........work..........not work.........as long as our kids are ok that is all that matters most

yes, I think we pretty all much realise how it's sometimes just not possible to work when you have a kid with SN , and how having more than one kid with SN makes things logistically even more difficult.

The Thing That Really Tick's Me Off Is That It's Not Me That Get's The Extra Help(well it is me) but its for the kids the funding everythin is for them. people think i use my kids disability to get things which knocks me sick....nobody should have the right to judge anybody unless they've been in the same boat....and as i sed to them if their kids were like my kids an they were getting the same "help" then i wouldnt be getting judged...and besides i cant get things like that (click of the fingers) i have to apply for them everythin is like a lottery u dont always get what u need...but some people dont get that...thats what gets on my nerves people who dont understand what ur goin thru with your kids....dont know what you do to make ur kids lives easier for them. makes me angry judgemental people x

Thats RL for you. Half the time its because ppl are jealous when someone is getting that little bit extra. There are a lot of people that are never happy with what they have got and their cup is always half full. Thats how it seems to them because they have not been in your shoes or experienced life with a SN child. Its just pure ignorance and unfortunately there are some nasty people on this earth (says someone who totally avoids playground stirring crap)

I have heard some awful comments about people. Or the "that child has X or Y and every parent has complained about him and wants him out of that class, he should be in a special school not mixing with NORMAL kids"

That wasnt about my child but about another boy who quite frankly is lovely and is really struggling with school life. AND that was from what I assumed was a friend who didnt know at the time of my DS issues. She was axed and I dont go into the playground at all.

I wouldnt let it get to you. I would love to say ok so we swap lives for two days and see how you cope with a SN child that will be so demanding and on 24/7 watch that you wont have time to put on your pretty little war paint and play the lets be a bitch and know it all. They would soon change their tune

ive walked behind in past the kids comming out and the dc has said wispering but as kids loud enough to hear when only just behined the mummy thats him thats the naughty boy in class i told you about, when its actually the LEAs fault they were not helping ds and he needed lots of extra support and was getting none , hes a kind funny cuddly boy actually and only would appear naughty if the TAs and teachers didnt know how what when to do with an Autistic chile with huge sensory issues which often were the reasons for outbursts .

Just to make you giggle for change. I have quite a good relationship with ALL the "naughty boys/girls" in DS school. Everytime I pick DS up at lunchtime (he is part time) I get "hello "DS mummy" "my mummy be here in a minute from one corner and "hi "DS" mummy" I am in the corner again" from the far side with a big grin on his face then theres a little girl who every day loves to say "BOOOO DS mummy!" from under her tent And she always reports that DS was in her tent this morning or is DS going to miss his turn now? (its his quiet spot too) I actually love it as I get a better greeting from those lovely kids than the teachers themselves!

You sure have your hands full, 3 of em with disability. I have 2 boys both severely disabled with fragile x syndrome and they are damned hard work too (older now; 12 n 14)
Ignore those who cannot see past the end of their sanctimonious stuck up in the air noses, they aint worth a light.
Just offer to put your kids in residential care instead next time someone accuses you of taking 'our hard earned tax paying money'.
I know to put mine in res care would cost £500 thousand a yr in tax payers moneywages alone for the staff needed, that's not to mention the food, living expenses etc...
I get 55 lousy quid a week (£2,400 a yr) tax payers moneyso bit of a difference I'm sure they'd all agree!!!
