End of year gift for 1 to 1 TAs??

What are you getting them? If anything?? I want to get something for my son's two TAs (job share) but don't know much about them outside their work with DS. I got wine for them at xmas but for all I know they could be teetotal!! One man and one woman...not too spensive...any ideas?

I got my DD's 1to1 a voucher for a beauty salon which I know she wants to go to, and I have written in her card that I will look after her 2 girls whilst she goes. (she was saying she has no time to get pampered anymore) But then I've known her for 3 years now, and our children are all friends outside of school. She is also the only other person who can have DD 'home to tea' as her needs are too complex.

For DD's other 'helpers' (she needs 2 present for medical needs) I got them some nice chocolates and DD has written them each a card, I tend to alternate between chocs, wine and smellies TBH!

I have a different problem. I want to give a gift to the TA that has done DSs Fizzy but not his teacher as she is a bitch has not been helpful. Don't think that I will be able to do this without ruffling some serious feathers so might get DS to do a card.

Watching with great interest. My ds has two regular job share TA ladies and recently, another has come into the mix. My goodness, with the teacher as well, this is looking expensive. Even a bottle of vino a'piece will be £35 or so. If it was just one, I lovemthe idea of a salon voucher.....

Ben10 - LOL that's rather funny! sorry to laugh, but just got a giggle at how you put that. DS2's main TA is the one that actually does the Fizzy classes (when she's not with DS2).

I'm not sure how to approach this issue. DS2 has 2 TAs that do most of his 1:1, but then has someone that covers 30 minutes 3 mornings a week whilst his main TA does Fizzy classes (and then does DS2's Fizzy individually), another person that sits with him everyday at lunchtime, and another that monitors him at playtime. DS2 has a LOT of people working with him everyday - although granted it's the same people every day.

So this leaves 3 TAs, 2 lunchtime/playtime helpers, 2 class TAs (one in morning and one in afternoon) and 2 teachers (jobshare).

As obviously we can't afford to buy pricey (or even non-pricey if we're to be honest!) gifts for them all, we planned on having DS2 make them each a handmade bookmark (with my stamping/crafting supplies) and sign it with Thank You on the back, and place it in a nice card (also handmade). Hope that's enough, but we figure most teachers are readers (oops is this a correct assumption?) and you can never have too many bookmarks.

Here's hoping it's an okay choice and they don't think we're a bit batty. (though they probably already think that anyway )

It's so hard isn't it! There are class collections for the Teachers and general TAs for both my kids classes (i'll put £5 in for each class) and DD is going to make some cakes for the TA in her class as she has been especially lovely. It's just DSs TAs i'm stumped with. He's not really up to crafting anything they would want to keep (sorry DS!!) and i wanted to not do food/drink but then it gets tricky (esp for the man!) Any more ideas?

Trust me when I say that this is minimal "crafting" involved. I will cut the pieces out for the bookmarks, DS2 only has to ink stamp them a few times with something suitable and then print "Thank you" and his name on the back. Then we'll punch a hole in one end and loop a ribbon through it. I don't generally "do" complicated. (if I can at all help it)

It was a definite [smug] when I heard that he doesn't have the current miserable teacher/TA combo he has this year but has the phase manager and his favourite TA who does his fizzy and phonics this year.

We were thrilled to note that DS2's main TA is moving with him and will be with him throughout year 1, and one of the jobshare teachers (that he really likes a lot) will be jobsharing with his year 1 teacher - so he's got the same teacher and TA for part of the time next year. Absolutely stellar news!

As a 1:1 TA and a parent whose child has a 1:1 TA I'd say wine is usually the most appreciated gift if you want to buy something. Even non-drinkers can take it to a friend's house or something. I'd write some nice message in the card. If you are really pleased with them, write and tell the headteacher! No ornaments, they will end up on eBay or Oxfam! No mugs! I'm always happy with chocolate or especially cake, but then I'm quite greedy. Something consumable.

My DS's 1:1 has been made redundant because DS is going to secondary. She's really upset as it was assumed by everyone she'd be made a class TA. So after 6 years 1:1 with DS I'm getting her a big leaving present of M and S vouchers. Usually get a bottle of wine. And I don't get anything for them beyond a card at Christmas.

we have used 'crafty crocodiles' (excellent cheap and quick site) for big canvas bag for portage worker, (always got loads of toys to carry) and ds has potato printed with worker's initial.
Small bag painted for one to one, (which we have filled with bath foam, chocolate candles etc.) for general staff we have filled a basket (he decorated) with little boxes of choc (asda £1 - £2) one for each of five staff in pre-school.

we have made cards for everyone.
