Just received an information pack from BIBIC, looks really good, i just wanted to ask those in the know, when BIBIC say what diabilities that your child has does your local authority accept them and work with them?

Hi Jenk

Bibic tend to look at your child as an individual rather than looking at labels.

In our case dd's school really took on board some of the stratergies given to us by Bibic. I am not sure about your local authority as such as we didn't contact ours.

Good luck anyway. On a personal note Bibic was a real life changing experience for the whole family!

We have used the detailed assessment with the NHS, OT and nursery (oh, and DLA application)- it's very useful in that way. I would have thought it would be a useful aid to getting local authority help too. They also told us that they don't like labels, but they added that they realise that labels are often important to get children the services they need - so if you told them that a clear diagnosis would be very helpful to you, I'm sure they would listen.

We went and without the back up reports we received from BIBIC I doubt very much that we would have got DS2 the school placement we wanted.

BIBIC offer a free initial assessment over the phone...give them a call and they will tell you if they can help you or not.
