A few questions

I've been mulling things over and have a few questions for all you knowledgeable people.
Firstly, if you move borough(completely out of the area) can your child's statement just be transferred or do you have to reapply?
If you have to reapply do they have to honour the current statement until you receive the new one?
Also, I have heard stories that your child has to actually be reassessed to keep their diagnosis? Is this true? Surely if your child has been diagnosed with a condition it should be recognised nationally????
For those of you whose children are highly anxious, does it get easier re going to school or is everyday continuously a battle getting your child to school?
A question for Amberlight and anyone else who may read this who is on the spectrum-how do you look back on your school days? If there was an alternative (ie.home schooling/flexi schooling/specialist education) would you have preferred this to mainstream? (presuming you were in mainstream education but if not then I apologise for making that assumption).

My understanding is that if you move out of your LA with a Statement, the new LA will honour the original statement until they re-assess. They may not choose to re-assess, I suppose, but they would usually want to put their own 'spin' on it.

A medical diagnosis is a medical diagnosis, nothing to do with where you live, so long as the doctor who made the diagnosis is qualified to do so.

Yes. We moved halfway across the country and the statement was just taken by the new la and just reviewed annually as normal.

My children weren't reassessed.

School is a battle depending on mood. I'm afraid I just tell them that it's the rules, they have to go to school. This wouldn't work for every child, of course, but it works for mine. I take advantage of their nature. They like rules.
