Just did the Cambridge AQ test for DS

Scored him 122 out of 150 and apparently the cut off for ASD is 76.

Do children ever score this high and not get a DX as the only way he will get help at school is with a DX?

BTW, his developmental paed has sent this to us and the school to get us both to complete for the MDA.

A score of 0 indicates no autistic traits. The maximum score 150 indicates full endorsement of all autistic items. NB: the authors use a cut off point of 76, over which the authors suggest further investigation of ASD is indicated. 95% of children already diagnosed scored at or above this level, whereas only 4% of the control did.

ok thanks i found it a bit confusing DS has his dx and is at SS as couldnt get on in MS but i still wonder how autistic this score is believed to mean someone is iykwim he was discribed by the paed as moderate

I think that it is intended to be more of a screening tool to see whether assessment should be carried out rather than to see where on the spectrum but I could well be wrong. The paper was slightly beyond me at times!

Dd1 has her dx of autism and scored 44, dd2 who also has autism is too young to score but score badly on her ados

Thanks Lisa. DS scored 43 on that one. I did get my mum to check my answers to see if I was being too down on him. She didn't change one of them! We won't have an ADOS I don't think, we just have OT, SALT and 2 paed appts before the panel meeting.

Least your getting those before dx most don't get it till after!
I did a daily diary with my girls, it really helped when they asked for examples of behaviour.
When dx appointment?

We had the first paed appt on 11th May when she said that she felt that he probably was on the spectrum based on our paperwork that we had supplied to her, our answers to the questions and the SQDs done by us and the school as well as the complete lack of eye contact that he gave her during the appointment. Just got the report on Thursday and the other referrals will have been requested when it was typed. Can't see that we are going to see SALT before September now unfortunately so will probably miss the September panel meeting.

I've already started private SIT and NHS Vision Therapy & Multi-sensory clinic (inc RRT) as he got a dyspraxia and SPD dx in March.
