Hi all. Just been on a damp school trip to Weston-Super-Mare, so a bit tired. DS2 (Y6) has been doing cycling proficiency this week but had to be brought back to school for 'endangering the others in his group!' Oooops! Grin

He had a wobble this week when I forgot it was Mufti day and he and his brother were the only ones in school uniform. DS3 was fine but DS2 had a complete strop. I didn't have time before work to get him changed, but his teacher found him an old rugby shirt in the PE cupboard. Didn't really help, he had a bad day. Sad What a bad mother!

will do ellen, (its what brought dh and together originally.)

into, even when you have known it is useful to have that confirmation isnt it...

wow about the choir need a life!

intothewest · 17/06/2011 20:07

feel for you triggles- It's been a hard road getting to where we are- How old is your DS ?

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 17/06/2011 20:07

Hi intothewest! Great news about DX ( if you know what I mean?) And why did the Weston Eye make you laugh? It's much scarier than the London one, but that might be the 'built by farmers' aspect.

Ineedalife, I'm loving following your DD's story, so positive. School dinners really don't matter, if she's upset by the sensory stuff, I wouldn't push it. If she can have packed lunch at least you can be sure to put in food she'll eat! Good luck with the performance.

Now, did intothewest offer Wine ?

Just back from osteopath with DS. I'm very impressed with it. Be warned - I can feel me raving about it on here for a while Grin.

Also had IEP meeting about DD. And it went kind of ok..... She's started 10 hours 1:1, and I got to talk to her tutor, and they said we could meet again before the end of term. So pretty good really.

Work is dreadfully boring. I'm starting to fantasise about quitting.... But can't think of what on earth else I'd do.....

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 17/06/2011 20:13

Oh dear, ninja, that's not good. 6 weeks wasted and even then they don't get it right? Is it that hard? And why take the loop off? Has she got digital aids?

StarChartEsq · 17/06/2011 20:14

Hi, predictably we got crappo amended statement on a Friday, sig along tribunal

Triggles · 17/06/2011 20:14

Ineedalife - DS2 has a lot of sensory issues and brings a packed lunch - he just has too many food issues, so at least we know he'll eat this way.

intothewest - he's 4 (5 in July). I certainly can't complain - both our school and the paed have been ultrasupportive. His statement is going through now (should get final next week). And everyone appears to be happy to work together for his benefit. We still have days, obviously, but much as it sometimes niggles, a dx isn't really going to change much for us. So I try not to stress over that. The ASD assessment coming up is another matter. LOL

ninja - my god, have a glass of Wine!! What a week! Shock Hope it gets better soon!

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 17/06/2011 20:15

Was that a cranial osteopath, Indigo?

OP posts:
signandsmile · 17/06/2011 20:15

ninjagoose bugger about loosing the loop setting.. hope all sorts out, have sent you the link now,, Blush

Ineedalife · 17/06/2011 20:16

Thanx ellen... I think I am still in shock at how easily she has made the transition but I also keep thinking that it helps me to understand how unhappy she was.

The school dinner thing will have to go on the back burner for now because there is no way I am going to rock the boat, it just would have been nice if she could have managed to have one on Brownie day because its such a rush [for purely selfish reasons of course].Grin.

The choir project is very exciting for both the girls but I think I might be knackered by next Sunday when it's all over, they have two matinee's and two evening performances. LOL I must be madGrin.

Oh and Dd2 has another concert with another choir on Thursday night. Smile, I am trying not to think about it.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 17/06/2011 20:17

Star, saw your thread. What shite, they can't even change the wording to make it less woolly. Makes you even more suspicious of their motives for making it woolly in the first place. Hmm

OP posts:
StarChartEsq · 17/06/2011 20:21

Ah, it doesn't matter. Gives me the perfect excuse to delay his start until Jan and give him a HEd boost beforehand.

IndigoBell · 17/06/2011 20:23

Ellen - yes a cranial osteopath. It's his 2nd session and they think he'll need about 5. He seems more relaxed and his social skills seem to be improving.

School didn't know he'd done it and they were bowled over because he looked his TA in the eye and told her he'd missed her when she'd been off for a couple of days!

intothewest · 17/06/2011 20:24

ELLEN-sorry my sense of humour- What is not funny about 'Weston Eye' built by farmers !!) ??
Yes I did offerWinefor all those in need

Sorry about statement STAR- I am still on amended, but people are being helpful ! and hopefully it will be finalised soon

Chundle · 17/06/2011 20:27

Madly stressful week - me with bad gallbladder, then dd1 was fighting with boys at school fell and banged her head so another trip to A&E as she also had a fever, she had concussion so was off school for few days. Dd2 had psychologist (useless shitty visit) and SALT (useful visit). Then fathers day Sunday so we are off to the zoo... Where everyone will assume my brood have escaped from the monkey enclosure ...

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 17/06/2011 20:31

thanks sign Smile

ellen, actually it isn't that easy to get it right, they rely a lot on the user to tell them what sounds best, only dd3 can't do that yet! Digital aids are the norm these days which makes setting them harder as there's so much more you can do, it's very personal to the user as to how they're set. All good fun!

next week should hopefully be better, I'm off to dd3s new school for a coffee morning with her teachers and the other parents Smile can't wait.

intothewest · 17/06/2011 20:32

Good luck at the zoo

I have to go-might try to pop back later

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 17/06/2011 20:37

ELLEN-sorry my sense of humour- What is not funny about 'Weston Eye' built by farmers !! I'm afraid I have to agree with into on that one Grin

Oh and loved the eyebrow comment sign, wonderful Smile

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 17/06/2011 20:38

I have a lovely picture of my three boys doing the three wise monkeys impression at Paignton Zoo this Easter. I was very surprised they let us out...

Chundle, are you fat, fair and forty? I'm definitely not fair!

Into, the Weston Eye is deadly serious(ly terrifying) and not a laughing matter.

Indigo, I've heard a lot of good reports about cranial osteopaths for DC with SN, anecdotally of course. Grin

OP posts:
EllenJaneisnotmyname · 17/06/2011 20:42

Ninja, hadn't thought about the user having to help the adjustments. So I'll just be angry for you about the 6 week wait! Smile My godson has hearing aids and he's now 13, but he didn't get digital ones for years.

OP posts:
Chundle · 17/06/2011 20:44

Pmsl Ellen! I'm fair but not fat (although a few bum dimples does that count??) and not yet 30 :) it's Paignton zoo we are going to :))

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 17/06/2011 20:54

Sorry, Chundle. F, F and F are the classic pointers to gallstones. So only being fair means you are really unlucky. 30 is quite young for them.

On a happier note, the boys loved Paignton Zoo. Giraffes, elephants, zebras, all your favourite jungle animals. Never quite sure of the morality of zoos, but heigh ho.

OP posts:
signandsmile · 17/06/2011 20:55

not yet 30, !!! Shock I can barely remember 30!!!!

I got into the 'seniors' swim this week, Blush altho I am 2.5 years to young really...

moosemama · 17/06/2011 20:58

Evening,

I apologise in advance for not being able to remember 90% of what I've just read on the thread. My head is not right at all at the moment.

I did manage to pick up that Ellen's ds has made a public menace of himself with a bicycle. We have cycling proficiency for ds1 first term in September and are dreading it for similar reasons - mind you, we have to get his stabilisers off over the summer first!

moosemama · 17/06/2011 21:04

Oh yes Indigo! We love our osteopath - we'd keep him as a pet if we could! Grin Honestly though, he sorted ds2's colic out pretty much in one session - he went from a baby that screamed incessantly for hours every single night to a calm, placid baby who never cried after just one session. He also noticed the damage to his left eye socket that the paeds had missed.

Then he fixed dh's labrynthitis, (I think dh secretly fell in love with him just a little for that Grin) and gently reshaped his skull, years after he had several skull fractures (skateboarding at the age of 30 - don't ask Wink).

Oh - and he fixed my spd damage from ds2 and realigned my pelvis and hips - with the result that I barely had it all with dd. Incredible man!

Dh wants to retrain as an osteopath when the dcs are older - he dreams of a seaside practice somewhere idylic to fund his retirement. Smile
