Yes please - I would be interested

Dingle · 18/11/2005 11:40

Is it just one cover or a supplier? If Merlot changes her mind I would be very interested in finding out more please.

Thank you.

If anyone's interested I got one of these from ebay. You can fold the buggy up with it on.

fairydust · 18/11/2005 18:05

argos £12.99 fits the major perfect

pixel · 18/11/2005 18:10

There is a company called www.babysroom.co.uk that does major accessories but the only raincover they have is one that fits over the sunshade so you have to buy both. I did buy the shopping basket from them though which I would not be without.

I have been tempted by the footmuff as ds really feels the cold but it's £40 so I'm not sure. I wondered if anyone else has got one?

fairydust · 18/11/2005 18:11

I made dd a footmuff out of a large navy blue fleece blanket from Ikea.

pixel · 18/11/2005 18:15

Fairydust, I didn't know about those, could have saved myself some money!

Mine has a zip going round the front which is useful but I not sure it's £15+ worth of useful.

fairydust · 18/11/2005 18:16

the argos one just slips on the sides and folds back when not in use.

you do have to take it off to fold it up but it's easy to remove and for £12.99 well worth it.

pixel · 18/11/2005 18:16

Oops not quick enough! Yes, I was wondering if I'd be able to make one myself. No sewing machine though so it would take a while by hand.

fairydust · 18/11/2005 18:20

I folded the blanket in half and wonderwebbed across the botton and put some buttons up the side (big ones)

pixel · 18/11/2005 18:30

I've already got a load of velcro . I'll look for some suitable fleecy stuff next time I go into town. Feeling quite keen now!

Dingle · 18/11/2005 18:56

fairydust- does the argos raincover need to be taken off before you can fold the buggy down? I am sure with that price difference it's worth the extra effort anyway. I mainly need it when I colect Amelia from nursery, by the time I get there with an empty buggy, the seat is soaking wet. When she is in it, she has her little rain mac on and holds her little brolly!!

fairydust · 18/11/2005 22:18

yes you do have to take the raincover off to fold it down but it's so simple to do.

Dingle · 19/11/2005 09:08

thanks fairydust...must invest it one!

doormat · 19/11/2005 13:23

have emailed mumsnet to see if I can put the address on this thread
dont want to advertise something if not allowed to

I did see on the leaflet that it was £45.75 from a supplier
it may be cheaper to buy it from argos
thanx to fairydust

but if still interested i will let you know

oops - DH bought a cover yesterday from ebay (£36 in total inc p & P - for Maclaren Major which doesnt require the sunshade), but the Argos solution does sound a lot better!

anniebear · 23/11/2005 12:05

Lol Lol, very pleased you were out bid!!

I didnt realise the Argos one would fit!

debs1910 · 19/12/2005 12:30

hi does any i find the older maclaren majors the seat is cold and not comfy

debs1910 · 19/12/2005 12:32

isd the new majors are alot better or not are they all like pvc/canvas material

Apixelmascarol · 19/12/2005 12:56

We've got the new one but still didn't think it looked very warm or comfy, especially as ds had been used to being very protected in his old buggy but still felt the cold. We bought the padded seat cover which was £25 but money well-spent IMO. It's softer on the backs of his legs when he is wearing shorts in the summer and it stops the wind whistling through the back in the winter.
