It sucks when...

Your three month old has better eye contact then your 4 year old.
When you realize your dd will need to go to a special gym class, because she would not fit with the regular class.
When in the first thirty minutes after waking you had to discipline her 7 times.
When you think that she will have to wear a device strapped to her leg during the day to correct her inward foot.
When, on top of everything else, she is left-handed.

It' just one of those weeks, sorry, just venting.

Totally get you on the "on top of everything else, she is left-handed." Yes lots of people are but it is just an additional complication to make life that little more difficult living in a mostly right handed world.

We are in the process of dx for ASD, or maybe Dispraxia, and there is the Intervention plan this week, and we starting to think about special needs schools, so a lot of things are getting in the way of the great way of thinking: One day at a time...

your in the right place to vent, but i too just had to smile when i read "on top of everything else shes left handed" because its soooooo true.
DS is a lefty, and yes its just another thing ontop of everything else...its a small thing but its there.

dd2 is a lefty too. just because of the blardy brain damage, but honestly. i mean, bad enough to have to teach her everything hand over hand, but to do it lefty?! gah.

this child is never learning to tie shoelaces. ever.

and i have no idea whether the fact she still writes stuff backwards is weirdy brain stuff, just dev delay stuff, or blooming lefty stuff. and neither does the OT.

worse, every time the OT tries to assess fine motor, she can never work out how to set up the stuff lefty either.

and don't even ask me how a brain damaged lefty works a right handed computer mouse on the wrong side. i have no idea. but somehow or other, she does. i can't do it. the OT can't do it. dd2 can. just as well, really. cos none of us could teach her.

we bought a pair of lefty scissors once. i have no idea at all where they are.

Never knew if my older boy was left or right. Turns out he's neither/nor! His brains works as 2 seperate entities sort of, so when he's doing left stuff he's left handed and when he's doing right stuff he's right handed, kind of, sort of...who frigging knows, I bloody don't.
Can't work it out at all. I'm left handed but do most things with my right hand, his dads right handed but eats left handed. Poor kids got no bloody hope really has he.
