Explaining Asperger's

I have to write a short card, explaining the difficulties my son has.

It's a card for his pocket when he go's on a school trip in a couple of weeks that he can show people when he's feeling overwhelmed or anxious when he's confused and having difficulties explaining himself or getting his point across.

The card may be read by alsorts of people from shopkeepers to teachers so i want to keep it quite clear and concise without being too baffling to someone who has never encountered a person with ASD before.

Any idea's where i can write?

I've got some printed cards from NAS. They say:

This young person has autism.

Autism is a developmental disability that affects social and communication skills.

People with autism tend to behave in an odd and unpredictable way as a result of their disability.

Please help by being understanding and showing tolerance.

It may not be exactly what you need in this case but it's a good starting point. We found it useful if DS had a meltdown to pass to any tutting interfering busybodies!

Crossed with ben10! That's the same card but ours is about 8 years old and about autism rather than Aspergers.

Oh, actually ours is the business card style one about autism in young people linked to on the right of that page. The autism alert card is a much more detailed one.
