Family Fund - People's opinions and views

I am considering applying to the Family Fund and wondering what people's experiences are and what kind of things people have asked for on their first application?
I was thinking of trying to get a laptop for my DS who is 5 but prefers to do his phonics etc on a computer. Does anyone know if they are provided by Stone or Comet?

Any other experiences will be useful.

FF are amazing, no complaints from me.

We applied for the first time this year, we got some money towards a cimbing frame, money towards garden repairs and money for a Maclaren major for dd2.

The forms were easy to fill in and the lady who came to the house was lovely and gave us lots of good advice.

Fantastic! We had a visit and we got more than we asked for! We got £500 toward a bubble lamp and £300 toward activities

no complaint here either. first time i applied, got money towards a holiday, and stuff for garden. they are great
