Special schools in Wales

Any one knows/has experience of a good special school in south Wales? I'm desperately looking for a secondary placement in a special school where speech therapy and signing are provided as my child's main disorder is severe speech and language impairment and specialist therapy is needed. Thanks

What level of learning difficulties does your child have? Do you have a statement? The special schools in Neath Port Talbot all require a child to have a statement and placement is decided by the special needs panel.

The two special school in Neath Port Talbot are Ysgol Maes y Coed (2 - 19)
and Ysgol Hendre (11 - 16)

yes where i am you put your request in and the panel decide but you must have a statement , as ive only reciently been there Zaaaazoooo what i was advised to do if is you are going to apply for a Special school is go and visit them , ALL the ones possible in your area and Main stream and write the pros and cons down as to why which ever school you decide is the one you would like DC to go to is the right school to meet his or her needs its the only way to make the panel know you know what your talking about and are making an informed choice

I visited a number of schools, in S. Wales and England near family. The one i loved is in Buckinghamshire which means I have to move the whole family. I would've been happy to do that but my older child is doing GSCE's and has a good group of friends so a move might be very difficult for him. We do have a statement with speech and language impairment as the main disorder but there are underlying and associated learning difficulties, which is causing which is not clear. It's a difficult dilemma :(
