When did your child do the ADOS test?

How old were they? Was it before diagnosis or after? If after, how long after? Did the paed suggest it to you or did you have to ask for it to be done?

DS never did it although was on the books to do it and was diagnosed with ASD only by observation of the multi disciplinary team. I believe can be offered since 18 months of age if the issues are really obvious and beyond just speech delay which is the most common in ASD but most often I hear from parents being done around 3 years old.

Have a look at the Frequently Asked Questions page approved by the author of the ADOS tests, which may provide some useful insights.

Done two weeks before full dx appointment. She's three

ds1 a bit of a rarity imho, we referred him to CAMHS last June, did the ADOS in Jan, he's 10yo and aspie so did the module 3 version. (There are 4 different tests, depending on how old / verbal the person doing the test is, which you probably already know) :)
Have heard of lots of 3yos doing it and a few a bit younger.

Ds and dd never had one they were dx'ed through an MDA and a course of six weeks of Intensive Interaction.
Ds started at 2.9 and dx at 3.3 dd started at 17months dx a week after her second birthday

DS2 was seen by paed at 3.3(referred by health visitor), initial diagnosis of ASD.

ADOS was done when DS was 3.8 at follow-up appointment;we got the formal diagnosis of autism (plus dyspraxia and developmental delays) at the same time.

Does the ADOS test show you how autistic they are iyswim? We got a diagnosis of autism Jan 10 when he was 3.6 through MDA. He's now 4.11 and I've only just heard about the ADOS test and am wondering if it would be worthwhile getting it done now or not?

Our paed told us that ds was moderate autism and dd was more autistic than ds so he obviously had his own scoring system.
