a positive and what's more USEFUL Annual Review?!

See you've all just fainted haven't you?Grin

I had DS2's review today.. yr 9 so the biggy as it's when they start transitions to adulthood (gulp). Miracle 1) Everyone necessary turned up. Miracle 2) We are all singing from the same hymn sheet on what we think is best for my son!

He's in SS but doing so well he is now integrating into the mainstream special needs unit for lots of things ..it's a bit tricky re funsing and support so I was prepared for mainstream to NOT want him (as they don't get the funding) but they were SO positive about him, both his abilities and his personality:) He has MLD and ASD and they think he can do some entry levels ( coursework based for those not capable of GCSE) and maybe even lowest level GCSE in maths. I am sooooo happy.

The transition stuff is a bit scary.. makes the future very real as he won't be easily employable but at least we have taken the first steps; I shall look at the local provision for SN at college.

Best of all towards the end (1.5 hours Blush) they called DS2 in to ask what HE wanted and how HE felt... which I think is great.

Had to smirk tho ..the physio submitted a very good report. Indepth..and inaccurate .. no mention of his newly developed scoliosis or the 8 pin knee op coming up in 3 weeks time.. I'm not surprised it was inaccurate as she NEVER sees him. I know this because I work full time at our SS!!!!!!!! According to him he's improved nicely!! Hmmm shame the surgeons don't agree...!

Just wanted to share a NICE meeting as so often we only have the bad stuff here...

Excellent news to hear. I think it's good that they asked your DS in to have his say - as its him who has to live with any decisions taken. Hope all the plans work well. Smile
