Hi there, I wonder if someone can help me. My DS is having an ADOS test on Wednesday and wondered what I can expect, I've been reading about different modules?? Also, how long will it last approximately and when do you find out the results? Is it same day, or are they typed up and posted to you? Are the doctors able to give you an inkling at the end of the session.....sorry questions, questions.....Confused

My ds (4) will have his ADOS next week. The letter said it would last between 30 -45 mins and I have to take along a drink and a snack that he likes for part of the test. I have a follow up appointment the week after to find out the results. It may not be the same in all areas.

Hi, DS is 8, he had an ADOS last year which lasted about 45mins. I found out the results a couple of months later in a face to face meeting - but this delay was partly down to terrible snow causing cancellations of meetings, Christmas holidays etc. I know the outcome was he scored very highly and therefore has autism, but still haven't had the actual 'ADOS Scores' although I have requested them to satisfy my curiosity.

Dd2 had hers a few weeks back. Took just under an hour and meant to have results next day but she went back and scored it straight away so we got results same day.

my DS had it but he was about hour and 10 mins we were posted to us about 6 weeks later and at same time invited back to see the paed for a chat ,they ask them to do certain things physical and mental (nothing to testing) and video it too for reactions to certain questions they make it fun at the same time or they wouldnt be able to keep their interest they didnt say anything at the end of the meeting to hint ,i think they wouldnt do that because they all convene to discuss first and put all the findings together iyswim

When DS2 had his, we had a chat with the doctor first for aboiut 20 minutes, then DS2 went off for the ADOS for about 45 minutes. We got the results posted to us, but in the meantime DH and I had a meeting with the doctor to discuss the results. I think it happened that way round cos they'd had a cancellation so we managed to see the doc before the results were typed up.

Thanks all this really helpful. He had a bad day at school yesterday, he was really angry and said something really quite bad to the teacher! Oh Joy x
