Yay I get to start the thread again! (I am def not a night owl, so I need to get in early Grin)

well, we went to the seaside, and ds was a star! had a few days in a caravan, (I made the rule no shouting in the caravan, we were quite close to others, and I said 'the man' from the caravan park would be cross. and hey presto quiet(ish) signlet!

had an proud mummy moment on way back, as little voice in the back said 'I wan sea! I wan sea, I sad!!'

recognising his emotions yay ds! Grin

Altho had a Blush moment too, as ds gets more speech he is getting more echoalia, I made wrong turn, said SHIT! and little voice from the back said 'sheet!' Oops Blush. have not had to worry thus far, but will now have to monitor speech...

Got statement review next week and oodles of marking for work, but have made a HUGE list and so feel more in control, (sad I know).

How has everyones' week been?

ya your ds.

This week was the week (yes it took the whole week) that I submitted my comments on the proposed ammended statement. Who knows what will happen next.

SOmethings in my life seem to be reconciling themelves though, so I'm feeling quite positive and driven. Sadly I have very little time still....

intothewest · 20/05/2011 18:29

Caravan sounds great- STAR ,glad you've got it done and some things are looking up-It took me weeks-I was really pleased that I finally finished and was looking forward to having some time to think about something else...and the DLA renewal came through-Oh joy !!- I guess it is something else

Not been a bad week except a few screaming meltdowns.I think a lot of it is tiredness after school-roll on half term

Well I have just opened a fosters- cheers (just grab one if you fancy one )

Ineedalife · 20/05/2011 18:33

Glad you had a nice break sign and Grin at little sign.

We have had a good but busy week, Dd3 is still doing well at the new school, she has had 2 school dinners and joined the choir this week.

She is getting back to her lively, cheeky ways and has hardly vegged out on the sofa at all this week. It is lovely to see and I hope it continues.

I am off to London tomorrow with about 25 Guides, there are 4 adults going and although I am looking forward to it its going to be a really lng day, I have to be at the station at 6.00am, I must be madGrin.

If anyone sees a group of mad Guides/Guiders in uniform walking around London, give us a waveSmile.

smugtandemfeeder · 20/05/2011 18:33

Hi both,

sign your week away sounds as good as it gets! Glad you had a nice time and your DS enjoyed himself. I found that DS had stored up every single swear word in his little mind for months and months before he started echoalia. It was too late to take it out of his mind once we realised he was repeating things!!!

Starlight well done for getting your comments on the statement in. It takes ages and ages to do anything. I spent 2 hours doing the tick boxes on the DLA form this afternoon and only got half way through. Useless!

DD asleep. DS awake. DS is the difficult bedtime one though.

Had a reasonable week. Lots of phonecalls and meetings, lots of being fobbed off but I wasnt quite as tired this week as previous weeks. Well thats how it feels tonight but im sure this week was actually hell ive just blocked it out.

Time to put amazing Sainsburys sticky toffee pudding in the oven.

signandsmile · 20/05/2011 18:33

ooo don't tempt me. I had put off the weight loss idea while we were 'on hols' and I finish the naughty food tomorrow, after that no cake choc or alcohol, sound drastic but I am a sofa blacmonge (sp) at the moment, so something must be done!

Glad things are going a bit your way star hope statementing stuff works out, after all the too-ing and fro-ing.

signing in - will be back once I've finally got LOs down.

I owe moosemama my gym story. I may put it in OTBT and link though so it gets deleted after 30 days rather than stored for posterity!

Its been ok...

Got ds1's AIT hearing test tomorrow so he can start the programme next week.

Its his comm paed appt on monday so am quietly hyperventilating about it and trying not to let ds1 and dh see how anxious I am Sad

Ds1 has had fun again today hurdling in PE although he has sprained his ankle.

Just want to next few days to be over....

moosemama · 20/05/2011 19:09

Sign your seaside break sounds lovely. Well done your ds for keeping the noise down - neither of my boys seem to be able to manage that.

Star, good to hear things are starting to come together and settle down for you. Hope you manage to grab some time for yourself somewhere in the middle of it all though.

Ineed, lovely tohear your dd is settling in so well at her new school. I actually do think you are barmy for attempting London with a gaggle of Guides, but then I won't even go down there to visit my sister. She's lived there for 12 years and I've haven't visited her once. [big wuss emoticon] Fortunately she comes 'home' pretty regularly and is very forgiving.

Smug, sounds like you've had a pretty full on week. Mmmm sticky toffee pud is my all time favourite. We used to buy them from a cafe in Hebden Bridge when we lived in Lancashire, we've been back down here for 8 years now and it still makes me drool to think about them. Blush

Well, everyone pretty much knows I have had a horrible week - so I won't bleat on about it here as well. Am feeling a bit more positive now though and hopefully will be ready for next week's fight by Monday.

We went to a music festival last weekend. It was very wet on Friday night and Saturday morning, but we had a blast anyway. The boys stayed at Mum's and we took dd with us. She was a proper little punk fairy in the the dayglo rainbow tutu I made her and home-made tiara, complete with rainbow leggings and wellies and flashing wand. She danced her little bottom off! Grin Mind you, twas more than a tad cold overnight. We had three friends sleeping in the awning and it was covered in ice when we got up on Saturday morning! Shock

I did feel a twang of sadness that we couldn't take the boys whilst watching other families enjoying the weekend with children of a similar age, but I know there's no way ds1 would handle it. He'd just about cope with the daytimes, as he's used to being a day visitor at some VW shows, but there's no way he'd be able to cope with the late nights and very loud headlining music or the crowds in the tents for the smaller bands. Still he had a great time at Mum's, went to visit his all time favourite cousin and play on his xbox kinect and wii then had a cinema evening with his favourite dvd and a pile of sweets and popcorn. Mum said he was really good all weekend, in fact she's never known him be that amenable for that length of time - so all good really. Smile

I have no goodies to offer this evening, we are out of food - let alone treats and trying to limp to payday without spending anything. We've had a great couple of months with birthdays, daytrips and weekends away, but we are now officially broker than broke as a result.

moosemama · 20/05/2011 19:10

Babyheave - I was just thinking about you! Come on - spill! Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 20/05/2011 19:30

Hello all.

Just popping in tonight as DS3 is at a music concert and will be playing the recorder in about 15 mins. DS2 had a crap week due to it being 'arts week' at school. It's supposed to be fun after SATs week but all off timetable so one unhappy boy. Oh well, Y6 residential next week.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 20/05/2011 19:31

we're also waiting on the lea response to statement amendments [sigh] emailed last friday, as of wednesday they hadn't bothered looking. Had an allergic reaction to something at the end of last week, I blame auntevil and her beverages Grin so have been a blotch of red and itch all week, it's finally getting a little easier. We're also mid loft works, the house looks a total tip no change there then and the noise!

I'm on the Brew for now but will bring the Gin along later when I can get into the dining room which is currently holding all the junk our treasured possessions from the loft.

asdx2 · 20/05/2011 19:48

This may just turn into a major rant so apologies.

So ds was assessed by Independent Special School who confirmed that they have a peer group and a curriculum to meet his needs which the LEA said they needed confirmation of before going to panel.

The senior officer confirmed that once it went to panel I would hear the outcome within 2 to 3 days.

So it went to panel on Monday, no outcome notified to me by 5pm Thursday so I emailed.

The response it went to panel, there is no outcome because they didn't make a decision.

So I asked for the minutes of the Ops Panel to discuss ds's provision.

Anyway got the referral form on it is the costs of the independent school, questioning transport costs and then action for LIO to investigate alternative provision one that I have already viewed as this was given to me in February and was unsuitable because it offered less support than he has already and then another school.

So playing the nice interested parent I phoned asking about their post 16 provision only to be informed there is no post 16 provision it's a mainstream 11-16 school 25 miles away. Apparently there have been discussions mooted about setting up a post 16 SEN provision in the future (but certainly not for September) because it's out in the Peak District and SEN pupils have to travel huge distances for post 16 SEN provision.

So basically the LEA are talking about a placement that doesn't exist, that is further away than the one I want and is impossible to travel to for half of the winter months from here when ds has no provision named on his statement and we are already three months past the deadline!

Have now sent a FOI request because I think I'll have proof that they have in fact done sweet FA in the last six months.

I have also contacted the Ombudsman, the MP, PP and on Sunday have an appointment with the founder of SOSSEN .

If nothing else they'll be getting the idea I'm not happy and hopefully the shit should hit the fan early next week

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 20/05/2011 20:00

that's crap asd, if it weren't for mentioning the peak district I'd be wondering if we were neighbours! My lea did almost the exact same thing, except the school they sent us to after not making a decision, again, was one for dcs with complex medical needs when dd3 has multi sensory impairment Hmm They caved eventually after contacting mp (although that had nothing to do with it according to them) and being able to prove there was no other provision available at all, any where. They agreed just 3 days before the school we wanted would have had to give the place to someone else, my nerves were completely shot. I have rescued the gin and will pour a large one for you.

creatovator · 20/05/2011 20:02

Hi, I've made it earlier this week Grin. Glad to hear some people having positive things happening. Asdx2 sounds like you've had quite a week Sad. My week has been hard but outcomes have been good. I knew it was going to be mega busy, but DS and DD both had lots of stuff in from school on Monday night which meant I've had to organise extra stuff this week on top of what was ultra busy.

Success on the OT front for DS. I've been trying, along with the school, to get him assessed for months (I've lost count how many) and finally we are meeting with the school and OT on Wed next week and they are going to train the staff in a programme for him Grin.

My mind has gone blank on all the other things that have happened. It's really been a whirlwind. I was at a Cryogenics Clinic yesterday for me. The nurse asked me when I had time for me and what I do. I couldn't think of any time that I have just for me, so I sat in front of the TV all night last night, just for me!

I'm on Brew as I haven't got any Wine at the moment.

SauvignonBlanche · 20/05/2011 20:06

You have to watch that echoalia signandsmile I have fond memories of hearing "bollocks" for the first time from the back of the car. Blush
I had a good week, DS returned from the short residential trip I mentioned last Friday quite happy and with no contact from school (no news always being good news). Grin

DS has a splinter in his finger. DH and I have been trying to get it out. Might give it another go when DS is asleep, whenever that will be. DH has said he'll go to shop and get us a lovely pudding and some wine Grin. The shop does lovely cheesecakes and chocolate fudge cakes and chocolate brownies and lemon tart and much more. I feel justified as I've been doing toning exercises in the mornings before breakfast for 10 mins and have noticed a difference already. Only on day 11 Smile.

smugtandemfeeder · 20/05/2011 21:03

Sticky toffee pudding lived up to expectations. Grin

Have just sent off a freedom of information/data protection request to my local nhs trust to get copies of all notes camhs mental health workeer wrote over 2 years so very excited about that. Hopefully it will be more useful than her letters she has sent me saying DS is a "busy boy". I think it was StarlightMcKenzie who suggested it in another thread so thanks Star.

If feeling fairly manic about all this stuff at the moment. I cannot switch off. Is that normal when you start out in the diagnostic process? DH keeps saying give it a rest.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 20/05/2011 21:16

it's certainly what I felt like smug Smile Sticky toffee pudding sounds really good.

nenevomito · 20/05/2011 21:20

Right.

Moosemama and anyone else who may need cheering up. Just for you, in thanks for all of the support you have given me, I have written my "babyheave goes to the gym shame" story on the SN chat thread in OTBT.

I am now going to crawl off somewhere to relive the shame.
