my DH came home from work this morning and said "Why don't you and (adult) DD pop into town and have a nice coffee and relax. I'll deal with DS3 and then put him down for a nap later this morning. It's Friday, and it's not going to hurt me to lose a little bit of sleep - you need a break!" Grin

Lovely man!! I have been stressed to the eyeballs lately and REALLY needed this! So DD & I went into town (after school run), had a browse around book shops (a big no-go with the little ones, they get too impatient or want everything!), and then had a lovely coffee (gingerbread latte yummmm!) and chatted.

We arrived home just as DS3 was waking up from his nap. Perfect timing and a lovely morning!

It's amazing how just a short morning's break like that will rejuvenate!! Sometimes it's something simple like taking a long hot bubble bath with a glass of wine and a good book, while DH takes over "child duty" for an hour.

So... what little breaks have you had recently - or are you going to have - to retain that all important sanity?

oh that's lovely triggles Smile

I've got to wait a bit for a break as we are mid loft conversion but I will get some time to myself when it's all done!

What a lovely DH! Sounds like you had a perfect afternoon!

My sanity keeper is running but never enough time to do as much as I'd like - I love it when DH comes home early takes over the dinners and let's me get out for an hour and clear my head!

How are you?

5inthebed · 20/05/2011 12:26

I take myself to the garage, buy a magazine and a packet of crisps and put my car through the car wash. Perfect 10 minues peace as DS2 hates the car wash and won't come with me.

technically I should have 9.30-11.30 free per day as DS is at school but they keep phoning me! Those 2 hours are all I have to sort out all the profeessionals, go to the benefits/post office/shop/housework & prep for tribunal

Yesterday it all got too much for me so I met a mate for a coffee and then took the dog to the park for an hour with the mobile switched off!

My bad, but it was that or punch someone after a particulary tricky Cahms phone call. I'll do it again in about 6 months and I won't be sorry then either lol! Being a lone parent means my sanity is of critical importance ; )

Glad you had a good rest.

I got told today that our FACBs has gone through and we have got 36 hours a year funding. May not sound a lot but since me and oh haven't been out since dd2 was born it will allow us to get an enabler in for dd2 so we can go out for an evening together yippppeee
