Meeting the SENCO at secondary schools?

Hi,
My dd is in Yr 5 at the moment but we have been advised by her Head/Senco to start visiting schools now and meeting with their SENCO to discuss what they offer in the means of support etc.
DD has been on an IEP since Rec-and has extra support with Maths from a specialist base unit that come out and teach her-1-1 5 days a week for 1/2hr.
What I'm looking for is a list of questions we can ask when we go along to visit?
She is very young for her age and really struggles socially too.
She requires a lot of support in class to be kept on task.
Just need to be sure we are looking for the right school for her that will meet all her needs.
Thanks
Sahs

i did this a few weeks ago with my friend as she wasn't sure what to ask.
would a statement benefit my dd?
do you offer a buddy system?
will dd still get help from the specialist base unit?(more time or less)
will dd get access to learning support? (if so what lessons etc)
will dd get 1:1 support?
can we have a plan of the school and a basic timetable of first day ie where does dd go on arrival, what happens next etc.
sorry but i'm not sure of your dd needs but hope this might help.

Good advice from davidsotherhalf. You may also want to ask:

How would you be able to support my DD at break and lunchtime? Do you run social skills clubs?

How do you support the transition from primary to secondary, extra visits etc.

Do they offer appropriate qualifications for less academic children?

Get a feel for the SEN dept, is it in a nice part of the school or hidden away, do they have their own classrooms or just an office, does the SENCo sound encouraging or off-putting. Does he or she offer you their phone no. or e-mail if you want to talk more.

We have a support thread going for DC going up to secondary in Sept, but lots you may find useful. Thread link here
