MRI scan

MY DD needs an MRI scan under sedation, currently the waiting list is 14months.
Does anyone know of any hospital that will give MRI scans for children under sedation privately?

That seems like a really long time to be waiting but I don't know anywhere that does them privately, how can they justify this waiting time?

Maybe stating the obvious but could you talk to your GP and see if you can get it done sooner on the NHS at a different hospital? Think you can choose any hospital/consultant these days?

14 mos? that's crazy. ours took about 3 from referral... unless zzzz is right and it's not a waiting list, but a developmental time frame...

I hadn't thought about them waiting for your child to be a certain age to see anyhting and it's a good point. I didn't think about this as my son has had scans from a very early age (a few days old) and I do wonder if they don't do a scan sooner, how will they be able to identify any changes in 14 months time (how will they know what they would find now if they don't scan) but I am not an expert, just a parent so wouldn't know all the echnical stuff, just the questions I would ask.

Thanks for all your help everyone. We live in Northern Ireland and there isn't an MRI scanner at our children's hospital, adults and children are on the same list. It is a desperate situation which is why i wondered if anyone knew of anywhere else that would do it privately and with sedation. Thank for all your help anyway.
