Hi all asking for a friend here she s concerned about her son who is in year 3 and thinks he is dyslexic. School are rubbish (failed their Ofsted!!) and dont pick up on any SN so no use there! Can she be referred to someone through her GP or is going through school only option?? Or can she go private somewhere?? shes in devon

The only person who can dx dyslexia is an Educational Psychologist.

You can easily get a private dx. Just ring British Dyslexia Assoc and they will set you up with someone for about £400.

Do remember though, that if the school is useless with SEN, then a piece of paper saying DS has dyslexia won't change anything.....

Of course many many private tutors will then gladly step in to fill the gap Grin
