DS1, DS2 & I were watching britains got talent last night. When the boy dancer came on, he was fantastic & at the end they said how he was talented & he mentioned he has Autsim.

Whats he got says DS2 (Age 8 asd, cp etc) . Talent I reply, "no not that" he says. "the other thing" DS1 chips in with "autism, same as you".
"Whats that says ds2" Well says I not expecting this conversation.... "its when you find some thngs hard like people & crowds etc etc... but also you may good at some things" Not wanting to be too negative trying to put a positive spin on things.
DS1 joins in again with "like that boy he's really good at dancing & is on telly"

With that ds2 screams & sobs for the next half an hour.

When he ventually calms down he says " does that mean i've got to go on Britains got talent" Please don't make me!

I think maybe we'll leave the talk for when he's a bit older Grin

haha bless him. i also took that chance to mention ASD to DD2. i told her the boy had autism and maybe she has it. she told me 'i dont have that i have dyspraxia'
i told her we are at CAMHS to see if she has autism and it just means her brain is wired up a bit different. that some things are a struggle and some things she will be good at

Our discussion went like this. DS1 and DS2 (who have brother DS3 who has ASD) - look at his hair its really awful, why has he got that funny bit down the back - watch boy dance and hear he has autism - DS1 and DS2 ok so thats why he has dodgy hair! (We have been trying to cut DS3 hair for the past week and currently one side is longer than the other due to him sleeping on the same side and me having to sneak in and cut a bit at a time)!

I have reassured him that he doesn't have to go on the TV.
Agnes.. my ds1 (nt age 11) also said he has "dodgy hair" but "cool muscles"

Good to hear that other families have similar conversations.
