I have a 7 year old with CP who HATES any kind of medicine. He even heaves on calpol. He's having major surgery on 17th May, and I got a phonecall today to say he has Group C Strep and needs penicillin for 7 days. Have collected it and it is the worst possible flavour for DS - Orange!! He is heaving and bringing it back up. Have only got 2 doses done - another 26 to go! Tried putting it in chocolate milkshake but he still heaved. Any ideas? Can't face sick for 7 days Sad

Lemonade. Icecream. Nutella. Jam. Marmite. Mashed banana.

Go back to the pharmacist and request another flavour?

They don't do another flavour! Have got the doctor to prescribe tablets and have crushed them and put into melted chocolate to make sweets. They taste disgusting (tried one myself). I don't know what to do. Was hoping someone would have a magic way! Grin

syringe down the back of the throat?

You need a really really strong flavour, plus dilute it enough not to notice

With the tablets, can you just chuck them in the back of his throat and then swallow with some of his absolute favourite treat? Something he's never normally allowed to really up the motivation?

try petit filous or something similar, that's how ds2 takes his adhd meds x

Don't crush them, try to take them whole or in half, they'll taste less foul. Yoghurt or ice-cream sounds like a good way to help them slip down.
