Anybody think it's ok to site new incinerator on doorstep of SN school?

If you do not think it is ok please sign petition here. Herts county Council and Veolia think it is perfectly reasonable thing to do.

Southfield School is purpose built less than 15 yrs ago and is fabulous. Would have to be resited, kids would really suffer with the disruption.

I think an incinerator is a bad idea full stop. We protested about having one near us and now thinking of building an MBT plant instead. Greener and cleaner alternative. Just tell them that you don't want your kids contaminated by dioxins, must toxic substance known to man. You can bet the monitoring and quality control won't be good enough. Many incinerators become white elephants as with recycling rates going up, they build too big for need, then if burning under capacity, pollution even worse and more dioxins released. Check how long the contract is for. You don't want them burning waste from London, just to make it cost effective. Good Luck and in our case we showed that people power counted.

Thanks for your support. It is wrong in so many ways, totally shafted by Tory county council.
