or more accurately, alongside?

My youngest is really lonely and his brother won't play with him. He'd really like a friend, but nt children just aren't interested enough cos he's weird. Grin

He just really wants someone to come round and swim and play with him.

we're not that far either, as you know. you may recall (we met a few years ago at a pub in Buxton) that my 7 year old lad technically supposedly isn't ASD but erm not exactly NT (my guess would be undiagnosed semantic pragmatic disorder)

he's 10, but very young, iyswim. tbh, he wouldn't really care how old someone was as long as they were there. He just doesn't want to be alone Sad

tbh, he isn't that interactive for long periods and he hates kids to follow him round and be in his face. but at other times he won't leave them alone. Which is a problem for nt children because he doesn't follow the 'rules'.

That sounds awful, doesn't it? He really is a lovely boy. very sweet. not aggressive (and can't cope with aggressive!)

He really wants other children in his life, but nt children just give up with him. They're not nasty, they're very kind - but it is KIND, not friends, iyswim.

I suppose I was thinking that other children with asd or similar 'differentness' might be as - forgiving? accepting? uncaring? of his weirdness as him and his brother are of each others Grin

Sorry, we're too far away. I figure your DS would be grateful for that, though, because DS2 is being "Mr Follow You Around and Drive You Crazy" today. I'm one step short of mental... or possibly less.... Grin
