I think private SALT used this to get a baseline for DS when he was 3, as I recall it puts various skills/abilities into 6 month bands (e.g. DS scored in 18-24 month for receptive language at 3). It involved the usual put the DOLL in the BOX, put the car in the BAG type stuff.

Yeah, we had DS do it but I didn't like it much. The pictures were rubbish, even I couldn't tell what they were supposed to be.

But it is a standardised test (I believe) so at least ds would have ranked probably fairly accurately against his peers.

My DS has been assessed using this.. his expressive key word was put at a 1 word level (not sure what age that would be?) and his key word understanding was put at a 4 word level, which she said was at the lower average level for his age (3).

I was concerned by the fact that an assesment wasn't done for all my DS's speech & language (eg. conceptual understanding) by the salt - because to me I haven't been given a full overview of DS's with just the things that have been assessed.

Thanks everyone for your replies - it certainly does not sound great esp. the line drawings but it may be that it is a start if it is a standardised test.
