I have spent about a hour today chasing up Bethans hearing appointment, she was referred to a specialist in Feb, following a hearing test that I fought to get done, in which they discovered that she has High frequency hearing loss and a dull and thicken left ear drum. 8 months on and we still have no appointment and no letter to say they have recieved the referral, which I know they have as I spoke to someone back in June and was told that they had the referral. Phoned the appointments cleck at Lister to see what was happening and they have no record of a referral or appointment. She told me that the doctor Bethan has been referred to is useless and only sees 8!! children a week, and he takes holiday at a drop of a hat. She has given me names of 3 other doctors that can see Beth and I have been over to the QE2 and asked them to re-refer her to another doctor. I am so angry that it has taken 8 months to get bl**dly nowhere!!!!!!!! She has hearing loss and it needs to be sorted AAAARGGGGHHHHH!!!!

OK - following on from another thread- complain to your MP- you'll be seen quickly then. This is too ridiculous. National Health not a Service in sight at work I think.......

And they wonder why some people snap. That's just too much. Hope you get it sorted & soon

That's awful mieow. Have you been able to speak to the consultant's secretary? Sometimes talking to them can get things whizzed through.

fio2 · 25/09/2003 07:28

poor you mieowSad agree with lou sometimes just talking to the secretary can push things through. Sometimes they can give you late cancellations too.

mieow · 25/09/2003 08:37

Oh I have phoned his secretary on numerous occassions she kept telling me that Bethan would be seen in August or September.......... well.... what can I say!!!!??????? And I told her that we would take a cancallation too
