You DS mums probably all know this. I read an interview with Leslie Grantham (Dirty Den) and his youngest child (of 3) has DS and his wife is very inolved in awareness raising and other activities. Its an interview in this week's Radio Times.

OH I did not know that Davros - thanks for sharing that. The only celeb I knew about was Damon Hill.

hmb · 23/09/2003 20:21

And Brian Rix. Is he still alive?

tamum · 23/09/2003 20:32

I thought Brian Rix's child had cerebral palsy, actually, but I may be wrong

princesspeahead · 23/09/2003 20:37

not really celeb, but rosa monckton (runs Tiffany's UK, married to Dominic Lawson, Nigellas brother) also has ds child, who was Diana's favourite godchild...
also pretty involved

aloha · 23/09/2003 21:06

The racing car driver Graham Hill has a lovely ds son. He's very into fund/awareness raising.

Ghosty · 23/09/2003 21:12

Aloha ... it is Damon Hill whose child is DS (Graham Hill - also a racing driver) was Damon Hill's father ...

aloha · 23/09/2003 21:39

Yes Ghosty, Doh! Silly me!

suedonim · 24/09/2003 18:10

I think Bob Monkhouse also has an adult child with DS.

mieow · 24/09/2003 18:15

Bob Monkhouse has a child with Cerebral Palsy, he's about 15 I think

hmb · 24/09/2003 18:18

I'm sure that Brian Rix's daughter has DS. His wife was young when they had her, and they went on to have other, non DS children after. He has been involved with MENCAP for over 40 years as a result and was made Lord Rix for his charity work.

mieow · 24/09/2003 18:28

opps sorry Bob monkhouse had a son, Gary who had CP but died in 1992 aged 40

suedonim · 24/09/2003 18:33

I stand corrected, Miaow. How sad that they lost their son.

bunny2 · 24/09/2003 21:12

Max Clifford has a daughter with CP or DS, not sure which. I'll see if I can find out. It made me like him more.

janh · 24/09/2003 22:04

not DS I don't think - I know she has some kind of physical problem but I'm pretty sure that's not it. May not even be CP.

Juvenile arthritis - just googled.

janh · 24/09/2003 22:07

And Brian Rix's daughter Shelley was born with DS in 1951.

tamum · 24/09/2003 22:08

OK, hmb, sorry. I knew about Mencap and his honours, it's just that my parents' friends had a son with cerebral palsy and I remember them talking about him as a kind of role model, but I must be mis-remembering.

tamum · 24/09/2003 22:10

Yup, just googled, and he actually had a grandson with DS too.

mieow · 24/09/2003 22:23

Sorry all but what does DS stand for?

tamum · 24/09/2003 22:29

Oh sorry, mieow, it's Down's syndrome (or that's what I was talking about anyway, maybe that's why I keep getting it wrong )

mieow · 24/09/2003 22:29

Sorry just worked it out!!!
