We come back from hol on the same day. I suppose my options are-

1- to keep the appointment, its 1pm and we are going to the isle of wight so in theory COULD get back for then, it would mean getting up v early but we are meant to get DD up early anyway its just whether we could keep her awake the 2 hour journey after the ferry, stress of traffic jams etc although it is just a normal may monday afternoon appointment so traffic should be ok. Would need to check how early the ferries start etc.

2-ring and see if we can change the appointment- I am desperate for the results of this though so would hate to do this if it meant a much longer wait.

3- Come back from holidaya night early. Again not keen as the hol was meant to be a break from the stress of all the tests and worry going on right now!

Argh! Maybe I should call and see what they think the wait would be, they are bound to say oh could be ages though aren't they!

They gave the option of giving a mild sedative-melatonin if we think she won't sleep. Would this still work if she was wide awake following a nap in the car?

Is it a week long holiday or a long weekend? If a week I'd come back a day early, if a weekend, try to get appointment moved. If you can't get it moved to a reasonable time then try to keep her awake. You need your holiday. No idea if melatonin would work if she was wide awake! Possibly not.

Its a week. We are going to ring and see if there is any chance of doing sun to sun but if not will think again or come back early. It is too much to come back and do it same day I think so will work round it.

It does sound like it might be a bit stressful trying to do it on the same day. I'm not sure about the melatonin, we have only had it for DS when he couldn't get back to sleep in the early hours due to his seizures.

Hope that you get an appt soon if you decide to cancel. DS had an EEG a month ago and we are still waiting to hear any results about it.

Thanks, I can't cancel I don't think, am too desperate for the results. Hope yours come soon, we were told to expect a two week wait.

Hi! Ask if you could get on the wait list in case there is an unexpected cancellation "before" your appointment. Has worked for me many times. I even call back asking if maybe there has been a last-minute opening and they didn't have the chance yet to inform me.

Hi Glimmer! Yes I think I will probably try that anyway actually. XP is have a baby with his gfriend and it is due that week so v possible he wouldn't be able to come I could always say that too and see what happens. As long as they wouldn't cancel the existing appointment.

Two years ago this happened with a hearing test I was desperate for as the results affected whether I wanted DD to have some other surgery at that point or later in her life. How times change! Or don't! That time the appointment was smack bang in the middle of a holiday with my parents so she missed it and they rescheduled for a month after, it felt like ages!
