Just wanted to let you all know tht there is some great work going on in my area with regards to training early years SENCO's.
Yesterday I spent a day on a course run by our area SENCO's. They were brilliant, I learned loads and came away with a folder which takes me through the process from initial concerns to statutary assessment.
We are still going to get support from the area SENCO's but they are being cut so wanted to prpare us to stand on our own two feet.
It is a shame that their jobs are at risk but I for one have benefitted hugely from my training and will be able to use my skills [and the foldre] to support any children coming through my stting who we are concerned about.
I hope other areas follow suit and make early years staff more confident in identifying sn.
